Video of a Carishina

By : Charlotte Fagan · July 5, 2011

Carishina is quichua for "a woman little able doing housechores" or basically a tomboy.  While in Ecuador I organized an all women's alley-cat called the Carishina Race, organized through the collective Carishina en Bici. My friend Xavi - who organizes Bike Polo Ecuador (and has an awesome blog) made a sweet promo video for one of the races that I recently rediscovered. I've been thinking a lot about the Carishinas recently because they have been organizing some rad events with lots of women showing up that I'm hoping to write more about. For now check out this sweet video of a friend riding around Quito, Ecuador.

Thanks for explaining "carishina" to us, and that video looked like it was super fun to participate in!
