Carishina is quichua for "a woman little able doing housechores" or basically a tomboy.  While in Ecuador I organized an all women's alley-cat called the Carishina Race, organized through the collective Carishina en Bici. My friend Xavi - who organizes Bike Polo Ecuador (and has an awesome blog) made a sweet promo video for one of the races that I recently rediscovered. I've been thinking a lot about the Carishinas recently because they have been organizing some rad events with lots of women showing up that I'm hoping to write more about.
