In August, Grease Rag's Uptown location hosted by Sunrise Cyclery will be saying goodbye two familiar faces and welcoming some new folks to our open shop crew.
Stephanie, who has been facilitating Grease Rag at Sunrise for two years, is moving to Philadelphia. She first came to Grease Rag wanting to learn how to fix a flat tire. After spending a few months working on her own bike, she volunteered to help facilitate the open shop, and has since been a welcoming face. She leads our 8pm "go-around", helping people feel comfortable by making introductions and asking fun get-to-know-you questions.
Asialy has been at mechanic at Sunrise since Grease Rag started 5 years ago and has been helping at our open shop nights regularly since last fall. Soon, she's heading south to Argentina and beyond! We've enjoyed having her around to answer tough questions and teach with patience, respect, and kindness.
Thank you, Stephanie and Asialy for all your hard work. We appreciate your time, effort, and dedication. We'll miss both of you, and wish you great success in your next adventures!
Soon, we'll have some new folks helping on the first and third Thursdays at Sunrise. Amy has been a Grease Rag participant at SPOKES for a while, and jumped at the chance to help when she heard we needed a facilitator at Sunrise. And Hailey, who has worked as a mechanic at Sunrise in the past, will be filling in that role during our open shop nights. Welcome Amy and Hailey! We're excited to have you!
