This is not a Grease Rag event, but our friend Lilah is organizing a bike camping trip!
Hi, I am Lilah. Cycling is a lifetime passion of mine and currently I race for Team Koochella and help to coach any new USA cycling women racers here in Minneapolis. Follow me here: https://www.facebook.com/lilah.guertin
A no drop bike packing event celebrating International Women's Day http://cyclofemme.com/
This beautiful May 10th, 2015 we will be meeting at The Depot Coffee House in Hopkins and roll out at 1pm. We have a mid point stop at Excelsior Brewing where you can join, end, or continue the ride towards Carver Lake Preserve at Parlay Lake where Surly Bikes have generously rented a group camping space for us to camp over night.
For the first 50 women that register and ride will receive a commemorative gift! Since this is a no drop ride there will be 4 guides, a leader, sweeper and 2 mid point. There will be some mechanical support from Jamie at Sunrise Cyclery. Surly is offering some food at the campsite Sunday night and some snacks at Excelsior. Please provide any supplements you may need yourself. Feel free to bring any beverages you would like for yourself or to share if you will. There will be limited beer provided from Surly. More prizes and give away's around the campfire that night. In the morning we will have the same 4 guides lead a ride back the same way.
Christina and I rode from Excelsior to the camp site last Wednesday and it was AMAZING. We will be on protected trails paved and crushed limestone the whole ride. The ride is beautiful and the campground is on top of some great bluffs. An awesome get away just out of the city. The mileage is about 20 miles out and 20 miles back. A super easy ride with other WTF and allies. Men are allowed to attend as stokers for our awesome WTF community. I will be not only one of the guides but also hauling a trailer full of treats for you.
Please email me with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org and refer to the blog and facebook event page below for any questions on what to pack/bring. I went on a city CycloFemme ride with the gals from Surly last year and it was a blast. These people know how to have a good time and make everyone feel welcomed and comfortable.
See you soon and keep the rubber side down!
