Riding home tonight
I stop
to look South off the Greenway.
See the lights and bustle of Lake Street,
but it's silent here,
two blocks so far away.
Over Sabo there's no wind.
A smooth climb
propelled over the city
like this sailboat-bridge.
Not many riders,
fifty-five degrees.
Few people to pass
and fewer still to pass me.
Memories of winter, only warmer.
Intentionally overshoot to add
a few more miles.
Turn around to go back home.
Eke out the last few quiet blocks before
a small bit of traffic,
and then home.
Tranquility, empowerment.
Bike, body, working together, life in control.
