8/18 Grease Rag- Uptown: And now for something a little different...

By : Lowrah · August 17, 2011

Grease Rag is this Thursday, August 18th!
(This event takes place the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month)

Group Ride:  6PM Meet at West River Rd. and the Greenway, we will end up at Sunrise Cyclery (901 W. Lake St. at Bryant Ave.) around 7, and wrenching goes until 9.  Come on out!  We have a special addition to this week's ride- read on to find out more!

Grease Rag NE will be September 13th.

Our good pal Lee is going to drop off her bike for an overhaul- Grease Rag group project!  We are going to make Lee's bike like new.  I'm anticipating getting very greasy for this one.  Do you have a project you need to work on?  Sound off here!

Grease Rag wants you to know...

GROUP RIDE:  We want to try something a little different this week.  We know that you feel comfortable at Sunrise- we hang out, wrench, and shoot the breeze there at least twice a month.  Wouldn't it be nice if we felt that comfortable in every bike shop?  The group ride will be stopping by Kitsune Cycles for a meet and greet on the way to Sunrise.  If you all like this idea, I'd love for this to become a regular group ride feature!  Any shops that you're curious about?

I feel like a hub expert after the amazing tutorial that Charlotte gave at Grease Rag NE last week.  I wonder what the topic will be next month...

I posted about bike job positions (not WTF-specific), and the 3rd LGRAB Summer Bike Games: Group rides, advocacy, and summer photos.  Keep your eyes peeled for a Powderhorn 24 race report and an announcement about some new Grease Rag stickers!

We were traveling light on the group ride- Thanks for showing up, Mio! So nice to see you again.

We will be going back to Kitsune next month, hopefully with more riders! There is a party at Kitsune for the 30 days of Biking this Saturday, too.

Our good friend Lee (http://rleepenn.wordpress.com/) sent her beloved Fuji with Jen for an overhaul. Jen and Kat did good work, but it needs some more TLC. Project bike!

It was nice of Esther and Julie and Shayne to hang out with us, too!

I FINALLY OMG FINALLY did everything I wanted to do to my Bianchi, including cleaning the Powderhorn 24 crud off of it, adding a water bottle cage, tweaking my derailleur and cleaning and lubing and greasing every dang thing. On the way home last night I said out loud to myself/ my bike, "Ohhhh you shift so smooooth!" The rest of the ride I spent singing Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal." I can't hit the high notes like MJ, but that didn't stop me from trying.
