There's a bike expo coming in Madison, WI that is looking for lovely ladies.  Thought I'd pass it along in case anyone is interested in participating in or attending the 2011 Heartland Velo Show.

Heartland Velo Show

Saturday and Sunday August 27 and 28, 2011 Alliant Energy Center 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way Madison, WI 53713 www.heartlandveloshow.com

From Bina, one of the organizers:

Looking for awesome women in the bicycle industry to be on our women's panel!

The Women's Panel will be held at the Heartland Velo Show on the weekend of August 27-28 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI. The outline for the panel has not been set yet but will include topics from racing to women's frame design, advocacy, breaking into the industry and maintenance (to name a few). The depth and breadth of topics depends on our panelists and the audience. Confirmed panelists so far include Sarai Snyder of GirlBikeLove, Diane Lees of HubBub Custom Bicycles, and Brooke Bauer of Rolf Wheels. We had a women's panel at the Philly Bike Expo in 2010 and the feedback was so great, we decided to continue it with our other shows!

Also, would one of your lovely ladies be interested in doing a women's maintenance clinic at the show?  It would be the weekend of August 27-28. The clinic would be on Saturday or Sunday, which would be up to you. There would be no monetary compensation, just promotion for you organization: We would have you on our website, Facebook, twitter, email announcements, press releases etc.

Heartland Velo Show Grows Stronger

More Seminars, Parties and Exhibitors added to Bicycle FestivalFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Madison, WI) The Heartland Velo Show is the newest event on the cycling calendar and it’s picking up speed. On August 27 & 28, the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin will house a weekend-long celebration of everything bicycle. Artisans and manufacturers of bicycles and components, cycling accessories and apparel from both the east and west coasts and the Midwest have signed on to display their wares. So far, all products are proudly “Made in the USA” (Although booth space is available to companies whose goods are imported and to those based internationally, as well.) A full schedule is shaping up to provide a “something for everyone” atmosphere that will delight cyclists and non-cyclists alike. Richard Schwinn will be making a presentation entitled “Schwinn Paramount – Handbuilt Legend”. “Richard Schwinn’s talks are always lively,” says Bina Bilenky, organizer of the Heartland Velo Show. “At the recent San Diego Custom Bicycle Show, so many people wanted to hear him speak that the crowd was spilling out into the hallway.” Other newly added activities and attractions include a concours d’elegance, a special women’s panel, and a raffle of two wheelsets from Rolf Prima. There will be yoga instruction for cyclists by Diane Lees of HubBub Custom Bicycles. Eugene, Oregon's Co-Motion will present a seminar on tandems. Stephen Bilenky of Bilenky Cycle Works discusses “The Framebuilders’ Family Tree”, and Mary Elizabeth of San Francisco’s alloneword will conduct a workshop on “The Care and Feeding of Wool cycling Apparel”. “Madison is a terrific location for a show like this. We aim to engage the thriving local cycling community in every way possible,” says Ms. Bilenky. “The fact that the Alliant Energy Center is only 2 miles from downtown via the bike paths is also a big plus.” Madison’s own Banjo Bicycles will host a framebuilders’ open house, and will share their unique vibe by way of a sponsored ride to the show. There will also be a Saturday night party at Williamson Bikes. Doug Fattic, of Niles, Michigan, has trained and educated several hundred new framebuilders since he began his framebuilding school. At the Heartland Velo Show, Fattic will braze a frameset in a live instructional presentation of the craft. The Heartland Velo Show is designed to inform and inspire aficionados, enthusiasts, casual riders and those who may just be curious about the fun, fitness and freedom to be found on two wheels.
