Grease Rag now has a Google Group, and we would love for anyone that is interested to join. Help us make decisions and take ownership of Grease Rag!
The Google Group page: http://groups.google.com/group/greaseragmpls
Once you join the group, you can email everyone in the group from your email box by typing in the address firstname.lastname@example.org
It is really easy to create a discussion thread and to chime in and let us know what you think. If you join the group you don't even need gmail to participate in discussions- the discussion threads can be sent straight to your email, and you can post to the group using the email address above. (You will need a Google account to adjust your email alerts and to upload documents.) Read More

Dearest Grease Rag Ladies and Grease Rag Supporters,
Grease Rag started out as a fun, twice-a-month event for a few of us ladies to get together and familiarize ourselves with our bicycles. Over the past few months we have done everything from an instructional session, to intense wrenching sessions, to laid-back chats in the shop. We have built bikes, trued wheels, changed flat tires and overhauled headsets together.
Quite a few ladies have expressed how Grease Rag has given them confidence and even taught them a thing or two.. not to mention the added bonus of connecting with other awesome ladies that ride!
If we are able to positively influence our small group, don't we owe it to our sisters to expand our little event into something that has the potential to create a safe space for a larger community? We think so! Grease Rag is ready to evolve, and we need you.

Are you ready to STUPOR BOWL??!
A group of us are meeting up with the Grease Pit crowd at the Grease Pit at 11am on Saturday, February 6th. We will ride over to the race start from there.
I would love it if some Grease Rag ladies came out and we rode up to the race start in a mass of rowdy grrls!! We'll be wearing our red bandannas/ grease rags, and it would be cool if you would too! If you are meeting other people or racing with others, don't worry about sticking to our group. Just be sure to give a holla if you see us!
Can't wait to see you all there! I'll be the one with the red bandanna and Grease Rag flyers. =]
There is another Ladies Night in Minneapolis!
The Grease Pit, a DIY community bike shop, is having a Women and Trans Night on Monday Nights, 6-9 PM. The purpose of this night is to make the Grease Pit a safer, more welcoming space. Check out the Grease Pit online at http://greasepitbikes.com
In celebration of the new Women and Trans night, the Grease Pit is also having an event called Dark Nights, Bright Lights, Savory Delights Alley Hat Ride. The ride will be on January 23rd, register from 3:00-3:30 PM at the Grease Pit (1501 6th Street South—backside of the Bedlam Theater), ride at 4. Come with your friends, meet new people, show your skills (and not just your biking skills) in team challenges, and get ready to build and/or learn how to build some stuff! Be prepared for dance contests, sledding, little kids’ bikes, and lot of glowsticks in honor of one of the longest nights of the year. There will be time to warm up at the stops, but hey, we’re Minnesotans, and we can handle this! Afterparty will be at Suburbia (3540 Chicago Ave. S.), music by Thrash Compactor, Kitten Forever and two members of Northern Howl. Lots of homebrew! Lots of fun! Raffles and prizes! Everyone welcome on the ride/afterparty.
$5-10 suggested donation, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. All money goes to the Grease Pit.
Wanted to give you ladies a heads up about another night just for us! Check it out, especially if you are one of the ladies that can't make it out to Grease Rag because Thursday nights don't fit into your schedule. Visit the Grease Pit and report back!
More chatter on the mplsbikelove thread.
Update: I posted some photos for this ride on the Facebook events page, and also in a Grease Rag Flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/greaseragmpls/
