Bike Feminism EXCO Course!

By : Lowrah · February 27, 2011

I love bikes, feminism, and bike feminism.  I especially like the local zine, Dames on Frames, that was developed through an EXCO class on bicycle feminism.  I always regretted that I didn't participate in that EXCO class...

And then I got an email from Charlotte announcing another bike feminism course through EXCO!  Squeeee!

This spring I am teaching an EXCO class, co-sponsored by MacBike, about Bike Feminism. It'll be 4 classes on Saturday afternoons in the MacBike shop on the Macalester campus. We'll spend the first two classes talking about what bike feminism means, and looking at some bike feminist writing and projects. Then we'll spend the second two weeks working on a class project to produce and publish our thoughts and stories surrounding bike feminism. You can sign up for the class through the link below- and please pass this on to anyone you think may be interested! This class is open to everyone.

Thanks!

Charlotte

Here are the details from the EXCO page:

In this class we'll be talking about what bike feminism means and how our lived experience with gender interacts with our lived experience as cyclists. The first two classes we will talk about what feminism means, how we feel like we can apply it to biking, and read some bike feminist things. The last two classes we'll come up with a class project of how we can share our experiences, produce it, and distribute it. This class will be a lot of fun, and a space for meaningful discussion about how gender and biking.
