Free Lights. Free Helmets.

By : Lowrah · June 26, 2012

Be seen, and protect your noggin!

Free bike lights will be installed by Bike Cops for Kids this Thursday, June 28th, from dusk to midnight.  I suggest showing up on the earlier side because I suspect they will run out very quickly.

Blue Cross Blue Shield is giving away more than 10,000 free helmets to riders 16+ at events over the next two years.  (Nice Ride members will get priority if there is a line to get a free helmet.)

To find out where the helmets will be given away, you will have to follow Nice Ride MN's Facebook page, or subscribe to the Nice Ride weekly newsletter. If you can't find an event near you, visit the Commuter Connection in downtown Minneapolis.

That is good news. Can't tell you how many young adults and teens I saw when I biked at night that don't have loghts at all and ride carelessly while doing so.Also the number of people not wearing a helmut is crazy. Especially the small kids who are not provision to control their bike when the unexpected happens.
