Grease Pit Loves Ladies and Trans Cyclists
There is another Ladies Night in Minneapolis!
The Grease Pit, a DIY community bike shop, is having a Women and Trans Night on Monday Nights, 6-9 PM. The purpose of this night is to make the Grease Pit a safer, more welcoming space. Check out the Grease Pit online at http://greasepitbikes.com
In celebration of the new Women and Trans night, the Grease Pit is also having an event called Dark Nights, Bright Lights, Savory Delights Alley Hat Ride. The ride will be on January 23rd, register from 3:00-3:30 PM at the Grease Pit (1501 6th Street South—backside of the Bedlam Theater), ride at 4. Come with your friends, meet new people, show your skills (and not just your biking skills) in team challenges, and get ready to build and/or learn how to build some stuff! Be prepared for dance contests, sledding, little kids’ bikes, and lot of glowsticks in honor of one of the longest nights of the year. There will be time to warm up at the stops, but hey, we’re Minnesotans, and we can handle this! Afterparty will be at Suburbia (3540 Chicago Ave. S.), music by Thrash Compactor, Kitten Forever and two members of Northern Howl. Lots of homebrew! Lots of fun! Raffles and prizes! Everyone welcome on the ride/afterparty.
$5-10 suggested donation, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. All money goes to the Grease Pit.
More chatter on the mplsbikelove thread.
Update: I posted some photos for this ride on the Facebook events page, and also in a Grease Rag Flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/greaseragmpls/
