Raise the Shade- Support Grease Rag

By : Lowrah · July 6, 2015

Grease Rag's mission is to encourage and empower WTF (women, trans, femme) cyclists in a fun and collaborative learning environment through supportive events like open shop nights, group rides, educational seminars, trips, and social events.  We are an entirely volunteer-run organization, fueled by enthusiasm and a drive to grow our community.  Grease Rag would like to make bicycling in the Twin Cities more inclusive of WTFs on bikes, especially focusing on including and building confidence in new cyclists, and cyclists new to bicycle mechanics.

Grease Rag is raising funds.  How can you help us get to our goal?

Spare change- Give at our open shop locations until 7/10

Grease Rag is currently doing our annual (yes, we only do one fundraiser a year) spare change round-up at our bike shop partner locations.  Bring your spare change, or round up at the register!  Every penny in the bucket goes towards fun and fabulous events, and making sure we never turn anyone away from an event, like bike camping, due to lack of funds.

But in addition to operating funds, we sometimes have one-time needs that come up.  We bought some cool vinyl banners for tabling and grouping up at events, but we would really like to get a nice canopy to lounge under.

SUMMER IS SCORCHING AND WE NEED SHADE!- Give money online: http://www.gofundme.com/GreaseRagShadePrty

Grease Rag has some events coming up : Hanging at Open Streets, picnics, Babes in Bikeland, Powderhorn 24, and SUMMER IS SCORCHING.

The cheapest canopy we would get is $300.  A really nice canopy is $500.  Additional funds could be used to purchase a hammock, with extra funds going to our operating budget.  Shade party!

Thank you to everyone who is able to contribute a couple bucks.  We know you have fresh fruits and vegetables to buy, rent to pay, and season opera tickets to renew.  We know.  So we really, really appreciate your generousity.  There are even rewards, if you help us reach our fundraising goals.

Give the gift of nutritious food- The Exchange Food Shelf

Join us in celebrating our sixth birthday on 7/31.  We will meet at 6:30 at Rainbow Chinese on Nicollet, near our first open shop location at Sunrise Cyclery.  Blue Moon Birthday Bash!!  Please bring a canned good for The Exchange Food Shelf.
